Why Content Marketers Need To Know About Instagram Stories Question and Answer Feature: Data Driven Daily Tip 187

Believe it or not, the number one excuse (after “we don’t have enough time to do that”) from brand marketers and small business owners as to why they don’t consistently post on Instagram is: “we don’t know what to talk about, we’re not that interesting.”

This is AFTER they’ve finally realized that the data overwhelmingly proves that their target audience is in fact on Instagram.

So the helpful, strategic and tactical response to their excuse is, let me put something in context for you and show you something cool.

1. The context. If you have a business, you have an interesting value proposition and story to tell against it. If you don’t tell that story, then you for sure have frequently asked questions. You have questions that you ask to your co-workers, and you have questions they ask to you, and you have questions that your clients or customers ask about your company or to someone specifically in your company.

This needs to be part of your content strategy.

2. The something cool. Instagram Stories, where data shows most of users’ attention is constantly on the platform, has introduced yet another cool feature, the Questions Sticker, where you can prompt your audience to ask you a question, share their question, then answer it, and share your responses back to your audiences, all within the same story feed.

In addition to Polls, which allows an account to ask it’s audience a question and have them pick between two answers, and has existed for a while, this new feature is super interactive, and easy to turn a simple FAQ about your company into something that is personal and educational to connect with your community.

With Instagram Stories, it’s all about quality over quantity, because users pay attention, so even if you have low numbers, you can bet on your users being engaged. One potential customer from a Questions Sticker is better than none.
