How do you go about building a business network by starting with no contacts? Just remember, business success is all about relationships.

Start with family or friends, or friends of family members, or family members of friends. Pick one you admire. It doesn't matter what they do for a living. Pick someone.

Ask them to coffee (or for a FaceTime, Zoom or whatever) prepare like 3 questions about what they do.

Try, "what do you do for a living?" "do you like or or not and why?" and "if I'm interested in that, how do you recommend getting started?" and spend 15 minutes simply listening to them.

People LOVE to talk about themselves, so this will go over well. Retain the information they give you.

Follow up in an email to them later that day asking if there's anyone they else they recommend introducing you do.

That one meeting will turn into an infinite amount.

If you follow this advice, your problem won't be a lack of contacts, it will be trying to decide who to choose to work with.

Just get started.
