The best way to optimize your WordPress Website for Organic Search (SEO) on Google is to use a plug-in called Yoast SEO.
Yoast gives WordPress non-technical content managers the ability to add SEO Titles (also known as Search Engine Titles), Meta Descriptions to each page and score them against focus keywords. Yoast makes suggestions to the WordPress admin on how to improve the SEO optimization of each page, post and custom post type.
Yoast also creates an XML sitemap for all WordPress sites, that can easily be submitted to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Speaking of those platforms, Yoast SEO also gives content mangers the ability to add the code needed to verify your website on each platform.
