Ever hear the phrase - "you should try to put yourself OUT OF BUSINESS every day?" As an entrepreneur, it's one that resonates with me big time. As a super small digital agency proven capable of working on the largest of large projects that any big agency does, it's a concept that doesn't scare me at all for some reason.

The concept stems from simply providing as much value as possible on a daily basis to those around you, be it prospective clients, current clients, prospective job seekers and even colleagues that run other agencies.

Us web designers, developers and digital marketers need to understand that others are trying to put us out of business (you've seen Will Ferrell do ads on YouTube for Wix.com, haven't you?).

It's long overdue, that's why I've been pulling back the curtain and empowering others to not only learn digital marketing and SEO themselves, but also even my secret weapon for years - Google Analytics - and my top money maker for my agency - WordPress Web Design and Development.

Seriously, one to four person marketing departments (and especially solopreneurs with a vision to start their own side hustle) should be taking these services in-house and learning to do it all themselves.

It can not only save a ton of money, allowing small, emerging brands to spend their dollars on customer acquisition, but it can also even save time.

It's sad, but the average outsourced web team takes days to get a simple content change turned around, while learning to update content in WordPress yourself can take seconds.

Thanks to Thallen Brassel of Lady Lunch Club, I've recently been able to be featured as part of some upcoming premium content that will be rolled out on LadyLunchClub.com, with the core premise being educating her audience and network on how they can learn these skills themselves.

While I'm trying to put myself out of business, it's also pushing my team and I to learn the next new set of skills that will lead our company into the future.

We should all D.I.Y., and help each other learn along the way. It's the smart, practical thing to do. And it's the right thing to do.
