I get it. It’s super easy to get bogged down in project work, deadlines and stressful conversations about solving complex problems.
In some ways, working at web design and custom software company, it constantly feels like the clock is ticking and the work is piling up.
The reality is that it if you’re working for a successful digital agency, it will NEVER not be the case. There will always be more people and companies wanting to work with you, if you’re doing your job correctly, and that’s a great thing.
But we have to all remember at the beginning, middle and end of the day, to Be Likeable.
Amid the certain stress and pressure it’s easy to totally forego the pleasantries and the human aspect of projects.
We not only want to like each other, but we want our clients to really, genuinely like us as people.
As Principle #6 states, we’re never going to get it always perfect – by design in fact. We’re going to go fast and Bring Value (Principle #5), so along the way, we have to be likeable, solid people that our clients really want to work with.
So we need to be confident in ourselves, but also be relatable and truly listen to our clients. That is always our goal. Owning imperfection but being super positive about keeping things heading in the right direction and being that perfect mix of both professional and fun along the way is what we strive for.
It’s okay to make mistakes. As long as you own up to them and be positive about correcting them. Clients like working with human beings that they can relate to.
Be professional, but relatable. LISTEN BETTER THAN YOU TALK.
After all, we’re all human, and the work we do isn’t exactly easy. So since we’re all striving for the same goals (creating great products, services and storytelling to engage our audiences), it means we share common interests. People who share common interests often become good friends. So even though we’re doing business with each other, we can’t forget the basics.
Our company principles are important and they all go together, like the perfect recipe. And when we execute them all, we are an elite, unstoppable team.
And when we work with clients that have similar principles and chemistry, we execute that recipe and cook the most delicious meals together.
(I know, I have weird analogies, but you get the picture).
