About a year ago I started realizing I didn’t need “that much.”

My family, my laptop. My phone. A pair of socks and running shoes.

That’s pretty much it.

The family for the people I love. The phone to keep in touch with the rest of the people I love, and the laptop to run my company. The socks and shoes to stay fit and keep my mind clear.

I thought if I could pair down to the basics, I would be prepared for greater things to come.

And if I trusted the process, and kept my head down, kept doing the right things and worked hard, it would be pretty easy.

And what I'm talking about specifically is my decision to move to Valencia, Spain from Nashville, Tennessee with my family, and make my company, Data Driven Design, a fully remote workplace.

It hasn’t been easy at all, but it shouldn’t be, when it's this good.

Trading in extra unused space and excess pointless possessions for building a true family, well - two true families - learning new cultures, languages and priceless experiences.

All while still working the process and building a special company.

And supporting my wife and kids through an amazing new daily life.

In just a couple quick months we've seen and experienced so much, from establishing residency in Spain, getting the kids registered and started in new Spanish speaking schools, exploring new places, filming a popular American TV Show, House Hunters International, in both Nashville and Valencia, Spain to finding our new daily favorites and getting into a new routine.

It shouldn’t be easy, but getting rid of what’s unnecessary and focusing on what’s necessary makes it a lifestyle not only worth living but one that’s hard to imagine not having. The family, the work, the process, the experience. That's all I need.
