How A Rap Song Leads To Teaching Masters In Marketing Classes

It’s funny how one thing leads to another.

A weird decision I made a year ago to write a rap song about Data as an intro for a presentation I gave at a marketing conference, resulted in several very cool relationships and business opportunities.

One of them being Kate and I being hired by Vanderbilt University to bring our Data Driven Academy to their Masters of Marketing Class.

There’s no substitute for real life experience, as we were able to break down knowledge from the last 10 years of building businesses. It was so much fun, and I want to share the full video of Day 1 with you below. Also below is the rap song that connected us. 🙂

Paul and Kate Hickey of Data Driven Design were invited to bring the Data Driven Academy to Vanderbilt University’s Masters of Marketing Program, part of the Owen Graduate School of Business. For a total of 8 hours, Paul and Kate facilitated discussions on Content Strategy, SEO, Facebook Ads, Social Media, Google Adwords and Google Analytics. Other topics discussed include navigating the business world and marketing world from both the agency and client side.
