I feel super-bad for so many small businesses, and even mid to large size businesses that just completely get ripped off month-after-month and year-after-year by their SEO company.

I can't tell you how many bills and invoices I've been asked by my clients to audit that are just full of ongoing BS that clearly isn't getting done.

The most common one is for agencies to charge on ongoing fee for services that were performed once, way back at the beginning of an engagement. Come on people! You're really going to charge monthly for some SEO keywords and Meta Descriptions that you put on the homepage 24 months ago and call that "on-page optimization?"

Ridiculous. I'm fired up about it. Especially when the answer is right in front of the businesses that need the help. Guys, it's called Google My Business, Yext and Google Search Console.

Attention marketers, from CMOs to Small Business Owners, here's the low-hanging SEO Fruit that you can investigate and do yourselves or have your staff do it so save from having to pay agencies ongoing. Or, we can do it for you for a low cost, and teach your people what's going on.

1. VERIFY YOUR GOOGLE MY BUSINESS PAGE(S)

2. UNDERSTAND HOW TO FIND THE REAL ACCURATE RESULTS DATA

3. UNDERSTAND WHY SEARCH RESULTS APPEAR THE WAY THEY DO

This is important so that you don't waste your time on stupid stuff that doesn't matter, like worrying about where people see you on Google. Check the real data in Google Search Console and Google My Business instead.

4. CLEAN UP YOUR LOCAL BUSINESS DIRECTORY LISTINGS

5. ACTUALLY POST ON YOUR GOOGLE MY BUSINESS PAGE

6. BLOG EVERY DAY.

Yep, you read that correctly. Blog. Every. Day.

These SIX things will help you avoid unnecessary SEO fees from outside agencies. And, you'll get more results.

Thanks for reading, watching and listening, and have a great day!
