Having launched more than 250 websites in the last couple years, I've become super familiar with the current landscape of domain ownership. The reality is that that 70% of the time, a business owner or head of marketing really doesn't know who owns THEIR domain name.

As a service provider, we use a tool called "Who.is" (literally a website at www.who.is - no ".com") that looks up who owns a domain name, and more importantly - for us - where it's registered (for example: GoDaddy, Name Cheap, Network Solutions, etc.) and where the domain name servers (DNS) are hosted.

But it's also a useful tool for any business to see who owns competitive domain names, domains you may be interested in buying but you've found they're already taken, and of course, that case that I'm too familiar with where people in their own organization don't really know who has access to their own URL. 🙂

Thanks for reading / watching - and have a great day!
