If you’re able to make it through the first 4-5 minutes of this podcast (some audio issues with Anchor on the phone call recording), it’s a true gem. I talk to WNBA Legend Barbara Farris, who I know from my time as Director of Public Relations for the Detroit Shock of the WNBA.

I’m not going to lie, being the Director of Media Relations for the WNBA Detroit Shock from 2003-2005 was the hardest job I’ve ever had.

I was 22 years old when I was “promoted” to the position and had the opportunity to work with 15 amazing women and Bill Laimbeer, former NBA Detroit Pistons forward and renowned “Bad Boy.” I learned to grow up fast and become informed, confident and assertive in this position, among about 100 other interpersonal communications skills that I didn’t even know existed.

A relationship that I’m super happy has continued from my days with the WNBA is Barbara Farris, a former star forward and now an amazing high school basketball coach in Louisiana.

Barbara is a legend to me because she’s a truly loving, caring person. She has no enemies, she is super smart, has great EQ, and is a true leader by example. I’m very proud of her, and I was pumped to have her on the show
